I loved the concept of this book. Maggie’s story was heartbreaking. Sloan’s story opened my eyes to a different version of adult relationships could look like and the intricacies of open sexual relationships and power dynamics. Unfortunately, I couldn’t connect with Lina. The more I read about her, the less I liked her and wanted to skip over her parts because it just made me cringe.

DNF-ing at 34% because this book is making me feel incredibly angry. The fact that I wasn't going to like it was pretty apparent from the prologue, where Lisa Taddeo describes how her mother was followed to work for a long time by a man who masturbated in plain sight while looking at her and wonders why her mother "let that happen". She goes on to ask herself if maybe her mother secretly enjoyed the experience.

The first chapter -the beginning of Maggie's story- isn't giving me much hope that it'll get better; it reads a little bit like romantisising statutory rape.

like overhearing strangers’ gossip on the train- juicy and engaging in the moment but won’t stick with you past telling a friend or two about what you heard
