I like Kate Harper's writing - she is terrific at scenes between the H & h that feel realistic, funny and emotionally convincing. This story is no exception, and I enjoyed those scenes a lot. But the novella length seems to give her problems - the leisurely pace of the first 3/4 of each of her novellas gives way to a frantic finishing up that lets down the excellent start. Her longer books are more satisfying. In addition, there are numerous errors (it's "Eton" not "Eaton" for instance - and why would one brother go to Eton and the other to Harrow, anyway?) and the French phrases are generally wrong. Overall, it feels rushed. But, even so, there is much to be enjoyed here.
