This had such promise! It just fell a little flat about halfway through. It was still a fun book but not fully what I was wanting.

After a long time I picked up a YA Book and while this book was not for me, teens around the world are probably loving it.

It's a story of a young Japanese American girl, who finds out that she is actually a princess & travels halfway around the world to fulfil her responsibilities and meet the father she never knew!

Its a fresh take on a familiar storyline with race & culture assimilated into it.

This is a cute, funny book that’s an updated twist on The Princess Diaries. The characters are great. The cover is pretty. I needed a lighthearted read, and this was perfect.

I received an ARC of this book from a Goodreads giveaway.

princess diaries but make it japanese is the only accurate way to describe this masterpiece. the discussions of being asian in america are top tier, and i hope any and all readers are able to absorb the topics brought up throughout this novel. princess izumi talks about how she feels she has to simplify her name to make it easier for others & how she doesn't feel american nor japanese enough for either country. the character growth in this novel is truly amazing. the romance had me swooning and squealing until the very end. the setting and culture are so seamlessly intricated throughout a familiar storyline. i laughed a ton and even cried a couple times. this book is pure serotonin & will definitely be one of my top 10 reads of 2021.
