I love Lily and Rule and the whole world that Eileen has created. I admit I have a thing for shifters and this series does not disappoint.

In this installment we get to see the consequences of Rule breaking the Lupi rule of never marrying and dealing with people that think him and Lily are doing a terrible mistake.

We also got to learn more about Grandmother and that was pretty awesome! She is my favorite character in the series, she is strong, loyal, hilarious and a complete mystery. We get to solve much of that mystery in this book and I loved it.

It was great to see everyone again, Cullen, Cynna, Sam and everyone else. Eileen does such a great job with the secondary characters that you can't help but love them all.

The great mystery and villain in this novel are both connected with Grandmother's past and its a doozy. It was great to get some flashback scenes and see some of her past too =)

I'm trying to keep spoilers to a minimum here LOL, but I have to say that I really enjoyed the book and it was great to see Rule and Lily again. This wasn't my favorite in the series, but it was far from the worst. It was a great read with a lot of action that kept me at the edge and made me read it in one sitting =)

The only thing I missed was some lovin' between Lily and Rule, but I can deal LOL

I totally recommend this book for fans of the series and for any Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance fan out there. I can't wait for the next book!

It's so hard to review books that are in the middle of the series. Anything you write about the story is a huge spoiler to someone who hasn't started it. But it would get boring to just read "this is a werewolf book with a cop who has a magical gift" every time I read a new one of these.

If you like strong female protagonists, a dash of romance, and lots of action set in a alternate-Earth where magic is real, then pick this up. I've really enjoyed this & I feel like any of my friends who have enjoyed the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher would surely like these as well.

A powerful magic being is causing people to hallucinate, increasing chaos and fear in San Diego. This creature has a vendetta against Lily's Grandmother and subsequently we learn more about her Grandmother's childhood & how she came to have her powers.

SpoilerThe ancient enemy, the Chimei, kidnaps Lily and Cynna, thinking to drain Lily of her powers and then exchange her for her Grandmother. This causes the werewolves to declare war against the Chimei. Lily defeats the Chimei by 'sharing' the death Lily experienced when in Dis. She also becomes fully whole, since having been split into two souls. The Chimei dies and the dragons are released from a treaty that had been binding them for centuries.

Just when I thought Eileen Wilks can't get any better, she somehow manages to. I'm not sure how she does it, but I'm happy that she does.

Since a description is given in the book bio I won't rehash it here.

Blood Magic is an absolute delight to read since you get to learn more about Grandmother/Madam Yu's past. Rule's proposal from Mortal Sins is explored not only from the political Lupi aspect but also for Lily (her reasons for it).

Of course Cynna and Cullen have a part (Max also makes a return, yay for Max). It'll never complain when those two show up in a story. And let's not forget about Benedict.

But all in all, this whirlwind of a book is great. It's always a joy to learn more about your favorite characters. If you haven't read Eileen Wilks before you can read it by itself (Wilks does an awesome job of explaining this in a concise matter that won't have her avid readers skipping ahead), but I recommend reading the other books before it so that you can truly see the growth of all of the characters and get a better understanding of some of the events taking place.

Wilks also released a short story, Human Nature, in the Anthology: Inked which is referenced in this book. But again Wilks explains what had happened so as not to leave the reader confused.

Awesome book. Can't wait for the next one!

In the 6th book in the World of the Lupi series by Eileen Wilks, we are treated to a new evil creature. Blood Magic reveals a lot of things about Lily and her Grandmother. Dragons play a big part in this book. I've been wanting to see more of them for awhile and we get treated to a lot of the mysterious Sam.

Lily and Rule are back in San Diego. They are dealing with the ramifications of their engagement when this new evil strikes against them. Right at Clanhome. This is Lily's perfect excuse to put off wedding plans and that kind of rubs Rule the wrong way. Not that he isn't totally invested in solving this case, just that he's feeling a little hurt and maybe a tad jealous. These feelings are confusing him.

Having some of my main characters on the chopping block was intense. I've grown pretty protective of Cynna, so I didn't like all the stress she's put under. Cullen's predicament is also dicey. It was interesting to see how connected behind the scenes he's been with Grandmother and Sam.

This world that Eileen Wilks has built is always bringing me new and interesting things. We continue to learn new things about our characters and the world continues to grow. At times I do feel a little like the books were written for someone smarter than me. I'm using my Kindle's dictionary a lot more! This world is just so big I find it hard to take it all in sometimes.

The characters are becoming very important to me as the series goes on and I find myself wanting to just forget everything else I have to read and binge this series. It's hard with so much going on in this world to just take it sips at a time! I'm really excited for Rule and Lily's wedding, that is definitely going to be interesting! This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict

[b:Blood Magic|6650737|Blood Magic (World of the Lupi, #6)|Eileen Wilks|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388235612s/6650737.jpg|6740123] is another good entry in the World of the Lupi series. I really like the characters (both primary and secondary) and I love how each story builds on previous stories - especially since not all plot threads can be easily resolved. The details about Lily's grandmother's past (and relationship with Sam) were quite interesting, and I especially liked how we got to see Lily get along with her mother. As usual, I found certain elements confusing, especially Cullen's magical explanations, but the confusion did not hinder my enjoyment.
