Moon cakes is a sweet love story. Tam, Nova's long moved away friend, arrives in town chasing a demon. As they reconnect with Nova, Nova's grandmothers, they also find the strength in their magic.

Tam and Nova work with grandmothers and Nova's friend to track down the demon. As they do, their relationship blossoms and they mature.

It's a beautiful story, with great disability rep, and a beautiful story. Highly recommend.

This was so cute! Sweet and sapphic autumnal read. It was my first illustrated novel and I loved that the witch had a disability. She was a main character and had cool powers and a cute partner and I loved it. There were moments I thought I’d missed something but I imagine this form of storytelling isn’t always as explanatory as a full length novel would be.

A sweet book about finding home and community in other people, and learning that standing on your own doesn't mean being alone. Also, there's nonbinary werewolves and gay witches, and that is always nice to see.

If I'm being honest, I'd probably rate this book closer to a 3.5, but the inclusion of so many queer characters of color and disabled rep just boosts it up to a solid 4 from me.
