I have mixed feelings about this book. Although I liked the representation of two asexual characters and the clear communication of consent between Joy and Fox, the romantic relationship didn't quite resonate with me. The book ends with a curiosity for what is to come. I appreciate that Malcolm and Joy found a middle ground for their platonic relationship, it did take a bit too long for my liking.

Okay, when I read the synopsis, I was a little hesitant, a best friend trying to break up their best friends relationship, ummm NO! But the book isn't that harsh, instead we have our main character who believes her best friend is setting up to do a big romantic gesture and fiiiinally admit that she's the one for him, only to find out that the big event is for someone he's been keeping secrete. No, its not HER that he wants to make things more official with, but some girl she's never heard of. And to make matters worse, she is ONLY being asked to go with, to keep the other women's friend entertained! WHAT!? So before he takes the next step and solidifies a relationship with someone's she thinks this is her last chance to tell him how she really feels. BUT that random friend she's being paired up with, we'll he's not so bad and he decided's that he's going to help her out and they can maybe pretend to be really interested in each-other to show her best friend what he's missing.

I loved the communication, I LOVE the main character, I loved the consent and the conversation around the differences on the ace spectrum. I loved the chemistry and I LOVED summer (is that her name). I really enjoyed it, and ended up LOVING it!
