I have read this book then listened to the audiobook when it came out. I had a slow start when I first started reading but that quickly changed. Maggie, Souxie, Asha, Isis, Hilary, Namir, Maze, and Tyee are complex characters with different backgrounds and reasons for living in the underground. A mystery intertwined with love, hate, and sex. I want to attend Drew Collins University. I cannot wait to see how this series continues. I was on the edge of my seat the entire book.

There were a lot of places where I got lost in this story both in a good way and in a confusing way. I also kept forgetting that the characters are a mix of ages from legit younger to 30 years old which was hard just as their behavior didn’t always align with my understanding of the age groups.

That said it’s a cool read and I will be reading the second one based on the ending. I do want to see if the second one is a little easier to read and if it gets more clear as you go along.

Very fast paced and loved every “chapter”. IYKYK! What may have seemed predictable, was beautifully written. This book is definitely a page turner.
