I was so excited for the premise of this book. It had all the makings to be great. The Underground Railroad turned into a fantasy hideout… that is perfect. However, the execution just wasn’t there. The writing style was very broken and amateur. There were so many plot holes and the pacing was really bad. It felt like nothing really happened for 60% of the book.

This atttttte! I’m so glad I was able to end 2024 off on such a great note! This was everything that I could imagine when it comes to an HBCU full of magical creatures. The storyline was so interesting and I was genuinely interested in everyone’s POV. There was so many layers and everyone had so much going on but it made everything so interesting for the reader. I can’t wait to continue with Book 2!!
