This book dragged on and felt like it had way too much information and hardly any plot. I was bored to say the least

Set on the island of Lute and narrated by Nina Treadway; Thorne’s plot has a similarly to Sherly Jackson’s The Lottery

Lute is a folk horror tale that starts as most do with a community that has a ceremony every so many years to keep the community safe the rest of the time. On Lute, it's seven years and Nina will have to navigate The Day for the first time since moving there. I thought Lute would be predictable, but to my pleasant surprise it really wasn't. I really liked Nina as she learned how to fit in on the island. There were some interesting twists that I did not see coming and I loved reading about the people and traditions of Lute.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes folk horror.
