Marauders: 3.5 it was entertaining enough and it advanced the plot, but I hate that the villain is another organization that hates mutants, which even though makes sense for this book is still disappointing

Excalibur: 3 stars I’m glad the old plot is over because I didn’t like it, but it was just setup for the next arc

New mutants: 1 HATED the plot since you knew they going to eventually escape so it was just a waste of time

X-Force: 3 stars really not much happened

Fallen angels: 2.5 it should probably be 3 since I wasn’t bored out of my mind
but I don’t like the series so 2.5 it is

X-men: 5 PERFECT the intrigue, the dialogue it’s all there

I’m basically reusing a review across this series, as it seems to hold as things go on. Overall it’s a bunch of highs and lows. Some books are consistently excellent (Marauders, X-Force, Wolverine, and it looks like X-Factor & Hellions will join that group) while some are middling to mediocre (Excalibur being the worst of the lot, plus Cable being so-so, and the main X-Men book varying in quality from one issue to the next). I’m still reading, so the overall whole is quality, and the whole setting that they’ve established is still unique and intriguing. It’s like a house of cards that we know is doomed to fall eventually, it’s just a question of when and how)

X-Men #4 is one of the best issues of the line. Magneto and Xavier tell the World Economic Forum at Davos that mutants are done playing by different rules. Now they’re playing on a global scale, as a nation-state, and they’re playing to win. It’s chilling and triumphant all at once.

I felt like Volume Three was a little bit slower and almost felt like the over-reaching arc had hit a bit of a lull, but no complaints here in Volume Four - Even Fallen Angels was pretty good this time around.

This was much better than the last volume. The plotlines advanced well, even if the New Mutants story should have been wrapped up in 2 parts. The best part was the meeting between Magneto, Xavier and the world economic leaders. Erik spoke so bluntly and matter factly about the mutant agenda, it was almost funny in his transparency.

Spring 2020 (March Live Read):

X-Men #4
I appreciate Slim & Erik's sass at each other.

This dinner party of "polite attacks" while the whole siege of the brutal attack is happening on the other hand. I'm dying as Magneto, mid-speech, is helping Cyclops a floor away with someone's weapon, after being asked nicely.

I will always love this (also always problematic) man.

Marauders #4

Another party night! Because parties every night, but mostly in this title? To flip-flop commentary, referring to above and back sets. I didn't love the art on the first few NM books, but I am loving the one on 3-4.

Ggggooooddd. Jean. Look at you, and your constant superpower displays. Showing off to the entire team everything that happened in the room, fight, attack, altercation, etc, like it's happening around them in glowing pink energy.
