Where Violets Bloom by Daisy Jane

I was into it for a bit but then when the situation with her family was all figured out, it felt like a decent place to end. I just didn't feel motivated to finish it. I didn't care enough about the characters. I liked Violet but Van is a corrupt cop and that's a big no for me.

It’s a different type of stalker and I think the author tried too hard to be too different. It went to the point of taking you out of the book for what it was. If the book was sold as stalker-dark-antihero then yeah I’d have said it was what it was. Spoilers ahead.

The MMC and his friend are corrupt cops. The MMC abuses his power by stopping a driver on an expired registration and escalates it badly. His partner, the friend, warns him about the camera and also stands in the way to help cover. The stalking FMC thing is fine and I can even understand him killing the principal but he goes terrorising innocent people because he never went to therapy to work through his parents’ death.

Writing wise…the book is 400 pages long and the MMC’s dick/cock leaked 10 times. I counted.

Too many and I mean tooooo many references to pop culture in one book. Handmaid’s Tale. Elon Musk. Tesla (on a police salary). I can’t even name them all.

Good girl is not the only praise in a praise kink but it seems that’s all these two know. Every. Time.

Overall, it wasn’t terrible to warrant a 1 star. I liked the conflict with the parents and sister, I liked FMCs friendship with Sasha (and later Cadence).

Violet is a school teacher living in an @busive household. She leads a very mundane lifestyle while fantasizing about life away from her family. All she needs to do is save the money.

Van is a police officer with a dark hobby. While out one of his “missions”, he comes across Violet and chooses to then watch her for the next year believing that he’s protecting her. What happens when the teacher that needs a hero “meets” the stalker/cop who loves to play hero?? Read to find out!!

Definitely not like any other stalker romances I’ve read! It’s sweet at times, steamy, and strangely funny. It’s unexpectedly fantastic! Loved the characters, loved the storyline.. and that closet scene? If you know you know!! A must read!

Batshit, but in a mostly entertaining way. My main issue was all the cop abuse of power stuff. Not for me.

I have to say I wasn’t sure what to think of this or how it will end. But omg!! This book sucked me in. I loved that despite his stalker ways that she saw it was more than just that. He saved her from a life that almost destroyed her. I recommend this book and the spice was 3.5/4 but good. I’m excited to read book 2. This is a stand-alone but part of series so I encourage you to keep reading.
