Not sure why so many gave this such a high rating. I could not care less about the characters and the plot did not keep my interest at all. I want my time back.

I really enjoyed this story about a confined woman both physically and mentally.
It subtly shows us how patriarcal society and misguided medical practices used to treat (pun intended) women in the 19th century. If you enjoy « mad woman » stories you will enjoy this short one with its creepy gothic atmosphere.

Just seeing the hints of how she’s going to spiral made me so sad. And it was avoidable. I knew how it was gonna go but was hoping against it. So well written. I’m sad.
