*I got this as an arc from Give Me Books Event Bloggers*

I. Loved. This. Book. It was so freaking cute that I couldnt handle it. The main character is plus size and so much freaking fun. She didn't care what anyone thought and spoke her mind.

Lou and Abel together was both adorable and hilarious. They complimented each other so well and they were so snarky with each other. I was laughing out loud several times throughout this book.

I will be doing a full review for this book, going up later today, on my blog.

i’m honestly not sure how i feel about this book.

on the one hand, i really enjoyed how light and funny and quick it is to read. it was really refreshing for me as i tend to read a lot of darker, heavier stuff. but on the other... everything just felt WAY too convenient? and that issue at the end was unnecessary and an example of a miscommunication trope done poorly. half the time the characters felt like 40 year olds still in college and the other half of the time they felt like children. neither of the characters had any depth to them.

one part of the book had me kind of shocked? but i think it’s really just worded poorly.
there’s a part where abel is telling lou that his sister was abused but it makes it sound like he only cared about abuse in relationships and the way men speak to women once something bad happened to his sister. however, later on he says that his mother raised him to respect women. so it’s just awkwardly worded and i wish the editor and betas had picked up on that so it could be fixed. i almost dnfed because of it

the fat rep.... it’s a no from me. i wish authors would understand the harm of having a fat character who constantly talks or thinks about food. that’s not fat rep. that buying into that fat people are fat because of how much we eat. also lou is ambiguously fat? like it’s mentioned that she’s curvy and bigger than other thin girls (her friend miranda too), but what does that actually mean? is it that she’s curvy but still a size 6-10? is she average women sized (12-16/18)? or is she plus sized (18+)? i don’t know.

i did like, however, that lou was confident in herself even when she had some moments where she felt bad about her appearance. because if there’s one thing i hate the most about books with “fat rep” it’s when the books are so incredibly happy that the struggles of what it is to be fat in a world that’s dominated by the thin image are washed away which isn’t realistic or books where the fat character can’t ever be happy until they lose weight which can be damaging to readers.

overall it was a nice quick read, but i don’t think i’d ever pick it up again or pick up another book from this author.
