I didn’t like it so much, but I don’t hate it either.
It was enjoyable and all, but I didn’t feel the spark that Keeland’s books usually have.

Those 3 stars are for Holden and Holden alone. The .25 was for how sweet the last few chapters were.

I feel so iffy about this.
I think I am not continuing on with the series. I checked and book 1 was only a 3 star. This was a firm 2.
So I found the FMC annoying. She was very young feeling and immature and this is tagged new adult so I don't love that feeling in that genre of book somewhat expect a little immature behaviour but not really keen.
Something that spoilt my enjoyment pretty much straight off the bat was her arguing with some off duty cop he impounds the car and then it's not really mentioned again. I checked to see if I managed to skim over it just because I struggled with this so badly. And I'm pretty sure I didn't but it just was a feels bad. She was right or appeared right and she got consequences that weren't fair and he didn't swoop in and fix it. It just was off putting for me and I don't know why. I think even if she could get her own back it would have felt OK.
This was just slow and a chore after that and it's silly something put me off but I was hoping it was at least somewhat resolved positively but it wasn't and I was over it.

It's no surprise this book has it all
The dynamic duo of authors has swept us off our feet, broken our feeble hearts, and then cemented them back together again.
If your new to Keeland and Ward, buckle up. Old friends you know what you're in for!
Falling for the secret crush you've had forever. Check.
Dead Best Friend's Little Sister. Check.
Rockstar and the nerd. Double check.
Nothing could go wrong. Just plenty of emotions, insecurities, and words not said. Good thing nothing goes wrong...ish.
Swoon with me. Sigh in happiness. But most of all, know that Ryan definitely has something to say!

I couldn’t wait to get Holden’s story after reading The Rules of Dating by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. You do not need to read The Rules of Dating to understand this story, but I do think that you get a great experience and some background on the characters if you do read it before reading The Rules of Dating My Best Friend’s Sister. This one was really enjoyable, and I already can’t wait to get more of these guys!
Holden and Lala had known each other for so long as Holden was best friends with Lala’s brother Ryan. They had a connection that went beyond that though and it was there from the start. These two had a ton of chemistry between them, but I loved that it was so much deeper than that. At first glance, these two didn’t have a lot in common. Holden was a musician that had a past full of girls, while Lala was smart and more focused on her future and career and had only been with a few guys. But even though it didn’t appear to make much sense, these two complimented each other so well and I loved seeing them circle one another.
The one thing that kept this book from being a five star read for me though was Lala. I struggled a bit with her at times. She made a lot of judgments about Holden that I wasn’t quite sure where they came from if she truly knew him. Luckily, things didn’t drag though and these two were able to communicate in a way that I liked. The one thing I absolutely love about these books besides the couples is the fact that the friend group is so strong. They would do literally anything for one another and I just love them all. I can’t wait for the next book, and I recommend reading both this and Colby’s book before as they are great stories! Holden and Lala’s book was enjoyable and a great addition to this world. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are some of my favorite authors, and you can’t go wrong with anything they write!
