11 stories with historical and surreal settings that was so poetically phrased with series of seductive characters crafted in the echo of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series. It feels so dreamy and beguiling, could relate to few especially the one that resonates the other perspective from The Shadow of The Wind book.

I took up this book because a librarian suggested it, and sure enough, she was right about the writing being superb. The way in which the stories are written leaves you with a vague impression that they are related in a mystical way, and sometimes it feels like simply watching inside a glass bowl.

Descobri de repente e sem aviso que um dos meus autores favoritos morreu no verão passado, vítima de uma maleita mais antiga que a Covid-19. Fiquei de coração despedaçado, morreu-nos um inacreditável mestre da literatura cedo demais, tanto para a idade com para a obra publicada.
Estes seus contos são uma última sobremesa para quem seguia de perto tão maravilhoso autor e, embora contos não sejam o meu tipo favorito de literatura, vindo dos dedos de Zafón só podia ser uma experiência magistral. Com muitas referências à sua obra maior, O Cemitério Dos Livros Esquecidos (estou a traduzir do espanhol, será exactamente assim o título em Português?), o leitor segue de mão dada sem se aperceber do voltar das páginas, como se cada conto não fosse apenas um momento curto na vida das personagens, mas todo um romance bem definido.
