An excellent book of historical fiction of Cicero, the most famous orator, Senator and Consul of Rome. A good historical fiction needs to start with a solid base of accuracy and due to a good number of works that remain of Cicero, this novel does a more than admirable job of maintaining that balance between fiction and truth. He takes some liberties as a fictional writer which is expected, but it is truly an entertaining read nonetheless.

I am already looking forward to the second book in this trilogy. Robert Harris did a very good job of making Cicero come alive.

Roman politics as a gripping tale of ambition and intrigue. Robert Harris does this very well indeed.

I don't think any Rome historical fiction can ever measure up to Colleen McCullough's incredible series, but this is still a good read, especially for those who love Roman history.
