A lot of fun, it really helps to bring ancient Rome to life.
A great book! A historical novel infused with the elements of a political thriller, Robert Harris's book portrays vividly the politics (as well as other aspects) of ancient Rome. It's like reading a courtroom drama/House of Cards hybrid set during Cicero's years. Highly recommended.
Успокояващо е да знам, по някакъв примиряващ начин, че политиката не се е променила за последните има-няма 2000 години.
Imperium is a fictional account of the career of Cicero in ancient Rome. It took a few chapters to get into it, but then it was difficult to put down. Another great work by Robert Harris!
slow-paced
I’m giving this book 3/5 stars as someone who is not normally a fan of historical fiction. If you enjoy historical fiction, then I am sure you will love it. I decided to give it a shot and I wasn’t crazy about it. It was okay, for me personally. Give it a shot if you like the genre though.
Rating changed from 4 stars to 5 stars on a second read of the book.
This is an exquisitely written work of historical fiction. In addition to the overall narrative, it has elements of philosophy, history and religion, all which rear there head in delightful spurts throughout. Highly recommended.
