My brother and sister gave me the ebooks for the first 8 books in the series this Christmas. This series has long been a favorite of mine, and, in my opinion, Skeeve & Aahz's universe is always worth revisiting. This is the first in the series, and tells how the two first meet, written in the same vein as Terry Pratchett's Disc World books.

The ebook did have some proofreading issues that did detract a bit from the story, but overall they weren't too bad.

I serendipitously found this book in a "free library" outside a quirky artisan house the other day. It was the perfect, easy, lighthearted, fun fantasy read that I needed after the exhausting and intensive workshop that I took last weekend. Classic, witty and addictive.

I vaguely remember seeing this book in shops decades ago, but it's taken me until now to buy and try it. It's an amiable light American comic fantasy, quite short, not much to it, but the dialogue and situations are entertaining enough to keep you occupied for a shortish journey, if you like this kind of thing.

I'm satisfied to have read it at last, but I probably won't bother with the sequels. I don't go in for heavy fiction, but this is so light that it feels more like a snack than a meal.

The author had ability in his way (I couldn't do it), but perhaps not the kind of ability to produce something more substantial.
