I had fun reading it and immediately picked up part two. The writing style is definitely something special, but I enjoyed it a lot. I personally get a little tired of the whole "boy meets girl" stereotype, but the story around it was definitely interesting enough to keep me engaged!

tbh i feel like i could summarize this book in like 3 sentences at most
it was definitely a book
would i recommend it? no
the plotline is very dystopian and seems like something I would like, but I just didnt really enjoy the story (this goes for up until like the fourth book where I stopped)

only character i genuinely liked was kenji
aaron thinks hes him like bro no you are not

What is it with young adult books and crazy metaphorical descriptions that make no sense?

Here are a couple quotes from this book:

"I want to scream, sometimes, I want to collapse, sometimes, I want to die knowing that I’ve known what it was like to live with this kiss, this heart, this soft soft explosion that makes me feel like I’ve taken a sip of the sun, like I’ve eaten clouds 8, 9, and 10."

Wow… tell me what a sip of the sun tastes like, please.

"It’s like I’m down to my last letters and all I have are Qs and Zs and I’ve only just remembered that someone invented a dictionary when he finally rips his eyes away from me."

Is this just a fancy way of saying you were speechless?

"I turn around, my face flexing the 43 muscles required to frown before I see him."

Thank you for this riveting knowledge.

"It’s like swimming in molasses, this kiss, it’s like being dipped in gold, this kiss, it’s like I’m diving into an ocean of emotion and I’m too swept up in the current to realize I’m drowning and nothing even matters anymore."

Please tell me what being dipped in gold feels like.

"It’s like that one time you woke up and tripped down a rabbit hole and a blond girl in a blue dress kept asking you for directions but you couldn’t tell her, you had no idea, you kept trying to speak but your throat was full of rain clouds and it’s like someone has taken the ocean and filled it with silence and dumped it all over this room."

Okay… Rain clouds? RAIN CLOUDS?

There are a few other examples of this in the book, but it just completely pulled me out of the plot. Hold on, what plot?

'Nuff said.
