Sadly the frustration at the whiny and asshole behavior outweighed the amount of times I enjoyed myself because I laughed out loud.

The romance and the relationship arcs were all over the place here

This started a little slow, but it was definitely worth the wait! It feels like the authors read Annette Marie’s Three Mages and a Margarita, then said “that…but faster paced and reverse harem” somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 half way through, it really takes off on its own path. But before then, I was experiencing some definite de ja vu. I’m really glad I kept with it though because I really enjoyed the story and the characters, which felt unique and interesting

Great story — highly recommend.

3 stars because I didn’t find Delta a likeable character at all. All she did was cry and whine for the whole book. A good concept but boring characters.

Grave Mistakes is the first installment within the Hellgate Guardians series.

If you have read any other book of Ivy's or Raven's, then you sort of know what kind of formula they work with when it comes to writing their RH romances. Of course, the main character is some sort of clumsy girl but very independent and uses her sarcasm and snark for weapons.

That being said, I wasn't completely surprised by our main character, Delta, one bit. She did annoy me a lot and that was weird to experience. For most of the book, she just seemed to let me down because she kept wanting to be some big bad ass but would continue to be the opposite. Maybe things will change, and she will get better in the next book? Right now, I'm not holding my breath.

Other than that, I did think some of what happened was interesting, but it also left me with a ton of unanswered questions. Again, hoping I get those in the next book or future books within the series. I'm just hoping that things get better overall.
