Wat is dit toch een fijne auteur. Ik hoop dat er nog een vervolg komt!

Another inspirational book from Raynor Winn. I've started walking trails since reading her first book The Salt Path. She really is a truly great writer.

I enjoyed the Wild Silence more than the Salt Path. The Salt Path reads rather like a list at times: we did this one day; we did that the other day. The style of writing here is more mature and less entitled. It isn't without criticism, though: the later part of the book - the trail walking in Iceland - was a weak part for me.
Although I'm in a Mountaineering Club, and therefore identity keenly with themes of hill walking, rock climbing, wild camping etc, I think these took over too much: Raynor Winn seems to be a more assured, confident writer when she reflects on more mundane topics.

Really beautifully written book, covering death and terminal illness, in a really hopeful and reflective way, mixed with a love of the outdoors.

I liked it, but not as much as the Salt Path. Then again, if you liked the Salt Path, you'll probably like this book as well
