Oh Agatha what have you gotten yourself into this time? Feeling low and depressed with her love James Lacey out of town Agatha is seeking someth8ng to quell her boredom and loneliness. She finds it in hairdresser Mr John who is a wizard with hair and can make any woman look beautiful. However she soon discovers he has a thing for women with money and could possibly be a blackmailer. With Sir Charles by her side they begin to investigate. Soon Mr John turns up dead by poisoning and the list of suspects grows ever longer. One of his blackmail victims, a jealous husband, a former lover. Hilarious as always Agatha stumbles her way through another murder case. Short sweet and a lot of fun another great installment in this series.

I must admit I didn't think this one was as good as previous ones I've read. It was still enjoyable though. The characters were as lovable as always and I'm a sucker for Sir Charles Fraith! No James either which was a pleasant bonus. Onto the next!

I don't know. I think I'm getting bored with Agatha and her pining for James, for allowing men to use her, and her pity party. I may read one more book but it things don't improve I'm done.

Great fun, as ever. I can imagine Agatha would get irritating in larger doses, but these stories are just the right length to keep you feeling some sympathy for the scrapes she gets herself into.

I listened to this one as an audio book. it was ok, and the narrator did a good job. My two big complaints are the ones I have with the other books in this series- it takes about an hour and a half for the murder to actually occur which is a problem since the plot is pretty middling until it happens.
The other complaint is in regards to how Agatha seems to solve the murders in all these books. She jumps to some conclusion or another that has little to do with most of the information she's been gathering. it makes a lot of the interviewing that happened up to that point feel kind of pointless in retrospect. With that said the absence of James is certainly a plus, as I've never been a fan of him or of the way Agatha fauns over him, and Sir Charles is by far a much more entertaining character and partner for Agatha even if he is kind of a bastard. I have mixed feelings about these books on the whole, partly because of the aforementioned reasons and because I'm really not the intended audience for them, but for whatever reason I'll probably still read the next one.
