I really enjoyed this story and Setiva is a great character. She is strong and independent and fiesty. She may be betrothed to a Prince but she is not waiting for him to come and rescue her she sets about saving herself. She survives being captured by pirates and manages to get her happy ever. She even manages to piss off her future mother in law.

This story was good and held my attention all the way up to 80-85% of the way through the book. It just went downhill fast from there and was very rushed and sloppy. Honestly, it was disappointing because of how much the main character is built up during the book. The lack of a good ending is why this book only gets 3 stars.

This would have been mostly okay but the Princess and the Pea part only happened in the last 15% of the book and there were too crude situations or conversations for no reason. These made me not enjoy this story.
The last chapter is just a sex scene, so if you don't want to read that, just skip that chapter.

Another great addition to the series. I loved the additional material that led up to the more traditional Princess and the Pea aspects of the story—pirates, war, etc. Sativa and Reidar were both well developed characters, and I enjoyed reading from both of their points of view. They are not the typical prince and princess depicted in fairytales, but are both independent, strong-willed, capable, and more than able to think and decide for themselves. The writing flowed and was well edited as always. I would caution readers that there is some violence and intimate scenes throughout the novel.

Appease: Princess and the Pea Retold (Romance a Medieval Fairytale #8) by Demelza Carlton – Sativa refuses to be given to the knight who slays her kindgom’s dragon. Instead, she makes a run for her betrothed. But there are a lot of unpleasant adventures between her and her newly crowned fiancé! This was the saddest book in the series so far! Happy Reading Anyway!

This one feels a little darker than the rest of the series. I'm glad I listened after Embellish because there is a tiny bit of continuation of that story.

Princess Sativa is a firecracker and after being promised to a Shoemaker, she runs away to find her first betrothed. She also has an allergy to pea straw which is a nice throw back to the original fairytale while making it a bit more realistic.

I received a copy from StoryOrigin, all opinions are my own.
