Loved this immensely & flew through it.

However, I would recommend:
1) making sure to read through all of the TW before starting it.
2) reading this in the correct series order (not as a stand alone) & to have read the Dark Kingdom series prior to starting this—otherwise you might miss some of the more subtle (yet intricately placed) plot details.

I have been dying for Haidyn’s story since we landed in Carnage and it did not disappoint! I LOVED every minute of this book and I can’t wait for the next one! This was a perfect mix of sex, love, and violence that doesn’t leave you questioning what is wrong with you afterwards. 😂💕

I'm trying to figure out how to even write a review for the "madness" in this book. It's 800 pages of pure, beautiful depravity, twists, turns, body heat, secrets, surprises and omg so much happens!! After how many months of edging, we FINALLY get Haidyn's book. Haidyn, the second Spade Brother to be written about, and I knew I would love him.

This book is mainly about Carnage and Haidyn. Haidyn's main girl is Charlotte, but she's not a typical Chosen or Lady. She's his because he gave an ultimatum and he wants her to be, and his little pet. She chooses to be. For many reasons.

As things start unraveling and Haidyn finds out more about Charlotte, their hearts tangle and what should just be used and tossed in typical fashion becomes something more.

There is a reunion of sorts in this book and we get to see a lot of cameos and characters and flashbacks from the previous LORDS books and Carnage. So much more is explained and as Shantel can do so well, they are interwoven to connect dots and bring things to light.

The LORDS and Spades are not for the faint of heart. Read them in order. It's important. Take a deep breath and make sure you have fresh undies! Haidyn is here. 🤣

Story: always a 5/5 with Shantel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“A well-fed devil is more loyal than a starving saint”

SHANTEL TESSIER! We need to talk because how the hell do you manage to write men like this consistently and in a way that has me gagged? Am I attracted to this? Do I need therapy? I thought I was a feminist, but here I am, fully convinced that I would happily obey my Lord if I was a Lady (to be clear, I mean your MMC’s, not the other Lords). Do I need Jesus? Probably, but that’s a problem for another day.

The L.O.R.D.S Series consists of multiple interconnected standalones, each featuring a different Lord and their Chosen/Lady. Each story is unique and INTENSE! 🚩Please check out each book’s trigger warnings, as they can vary  🚩 On a scale of dark romance, this is a very, very, VERY dark grey, almost black series. Proceed accordingly.

While you don’t have to read them in order, I highly recommend reading this series in publication order to fully grasp the very compelling and mysterious subplot. Not to mention, the FMCs and MMCs do make appearances within the other books, and the Easter eggs are bountiful.

“Madness” tells the story of Haidyn and [redacted]. And let me tell you, if you thought you knew Haidyn before, you were absolutely wrong. Haidyn is probably the most complex character within the main Lords group, carrying a lot of secrets and with them, a lot of responsibility. Without going into spoiler territory, he has one of the best backgrounds that we have seen so far, and I have fallen irrevocably in love with him (I’m sorry, I had to have a Bella Swan moment there).

If you thought Ryat, Sin, Tyson and Saint were freaks in the sheets and obsessive over their ladies, you are not prepared for what Haidyn’s story entails… Because of this, he is now my number one Lord (thanks Shantel ❤️).

Prepare to get a lot of answers to the questions that have been plaguing you since you started the series. You’re also going to have plenty more questions.

Either way, I cannot wait for Kashton’s story, though I low key think he may end up as the cinnamon roll of the Slade brothers. Don’t ask me why, I just really think he is hiding some eewy gooeyness somewhere inside that crazy exterior of his. I’m also praying that Adam gets his own book at some point 🙏

The short & sweet of it:

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 (RIP to my search history because I had to do some research for ✨science✨

Plot: 5/5

Character Development: 4.75/5

Tropes: Forced proximity, touch-her-and-die
