It’s interesting to read this after having seen the movie multiple times. I actually like that Miranda Prestly is not a real person in this one and I think the downward spiral was much more noticeable in this version. I also liked the constant repetition of “every girl would die for your job”.
But it did drag a little bit and I don’t remember most of the shenanigans that happened at Runway…

I don’t know if Lauren Weisberger did this intentionally but no one in this book is even remotely likable, everyone is vapid, self-centered, and incredibly annoying, and I don’t know if that’s what Weisberger was going for or if it was just her writing, but I can definitely say for certain that this book was written in 2003 and that the characters are living in 2003. What I can tell you, however, is that Miranda Priestley will always remain iconic.

Just didn’t grab me at the time. I’ve seen the movie and realized I didn’t care that much about reading the book.
