I finished because I was really curious how the story would finish, but I genuinely had to struggle through the second half. It was riddled with typos and I felt that the MMC’s change of heart was rushed and a bit too convenient. Not sure if I’ll read the next one, which is a shame because I loved the premise of this series.
Graphic: Genocide, Violence, Grief, War
Moderate: Sexual content, Xenophobia, Blood
3.5 Underwhelming stars
This book had one job, turn enemies into lovers, and make it good.
And it botched it. Badly.
After so much antagonism between the MCs in book 1 you expect things to take work to evolve. But no, the author just flipped a switch and now Soren is just obsessed with Rooke. And Rooke accepts it all.
I did like Soren in this book, he single-handedly carried the book, just because Rooke, the most badass of FMCs, was so transparent. Overall there just wasn't any chemistry between them.
The "plot" was also all over the place. Random stuff not explained occured right and left.
So, overall I'm very disappointed with this book.
