Kind of fun, definitely juvenile and for young readers. I enjoyed the art, but the story and word choice (even for then target audience) felt strange and heavily lacking.
I liked the diverse characters, though they were all one dimensional.

A really fun story. The turn it took was totally unexpected and delightful.

Okay, this book did NOT go where I thought it was going! Spoiler alert: there are aliens in this book. and space travel. and summer camp. and moving away from your best friend and feelings of abandonment. A fun, light read (despite said difficult feelings).

I thought th was going to be another perfectly average, “awkward teen can’t make friends” middle grade graphic novel. I was pleasantly surprised at how unique and interesting it was. I ended up liking it a lot!

Vega and her family have recently moved from Portland to Seattle and her parents decide to send her to summer camp to make new friends. She doesn't want to go, and once she's there things seems to be really weird. As things get weirder, Vega starts to partner up with other campers to find out what's going on.

An interesting take on a summer camp, but ultimately about acceptance and friendship.

I had been eagerly waiting for this ever since i read Fake Blood, (this isn't book two in a series, it just goes with fake blood) and i was not disappointed! It started off extremely relatable, with Vega moving away from her bff when her parents got a new job. Her dads then send her to a summer camp especially for loner kids to make friends at. It becomes significantly less relatable from there. Less relatable, but clever and exciting and funny! This is one of those “make new friends and keep the old stories”, but with aliens.

I received an ARC of this title in exchange for a review:

This is a cute middle grade graphic novel that would also appeal to slightly younger kiddos (3rd/4th) grade. Fun colors, a great friendship, LGBTQIA+ representation, and more!
