Ill admit,, horror is not my genre but something about this book (the cover probably) really intrigued me! I was interested in the book throughout but I have a hard time reading gruesome stuff and that is probably what brought this down for me (god the bugs.....). Good story though!

This book only took me so long to read because I went on a mini reading hiatus for no reason other than my ADD making it absolutely impossible to finish anything, even the things I liked. It had nothing to do with the content of the book. I read a lot of it really quickly, then jumped right back in and finished the last 150 pages in one night.

This book is funny and gross, and it made me feel like I'm really there. Hendrix uses such great imagery without being annoying about it and rambling on. He paints an accurate picture and gets back to the story. And this isn't just a story about an exorcism. It's a story about the purity of friendship, and how imperfect it can be, and the people involved.

If you like The Righteous Gemstones, you'll love the way Hendrix writes about the more religious aspects of the story. As someone who went to high school in a small town, I could relate to some of this all too much.

One thing I didn't expect was the cry about the content in the last few pages. I don't think the ending is like a lot of other books from this genre that I've read. It's really unique in that I feel the whole story is told, and there's really nothing left to wonder. That's something I personally love. I want to know how the author wanted it to end. I don't love speculating.
