1. I guess the “evil sort of muslims” not only blow up statues but give 1 star to this book.

2. It was getting boring anyway.

This volume picks up the story after the climax of volume 4. It is slow and not as exciting as it is setting up the plot for the next books.

I think this series isn't entirely sure where it is going. The artwork continues to be stunning as always, but the story is just a bit..confused? I wanted to like this one more then I did but there are only hints of what is coming for the new big bad and it isn't clearly defined yet. The newspaper article style at the start was a little off putting as well.

Still, I will be snagging the next volume when it comes out. Hopefully the story gets going again. If not then at least I will be treated to some more gorgeous artwork.

The first issue in this volume was made to be like an issue of a magazine. The whole issue is just a series of full-length interviews with the characters. It was not captivating in the slightest and it took me a long time to get through. All that text was so jarring. I wanted to read a comic, and that’s just not what that issue was. Also, it didn’t add anything to the narrative. It was the worst possible kind of filler.

Another issue (#27, I think?) had a weird color-coded format. I had to refer to the issue’s plot summary on the WicDiv wiki to understand what was going on.

Otherwise, it was a fine collection.

LIKE... what am i even supposed to say at this point! they hit it out of the park with every fucking issue! literally every issue expands on the massive cast of characters with care and with beautiful art and the storyline continues to thrash me around like i'm being dragged behind a car! how do i review wicdiv except to say wicdiv good!
