Third time reading the series, first time listening to the audiobook. My initial review is somewhere on here. But can I just say the male narrator (Blake Lockhart) is absolute perfection. He only read one chapter and yet I'm in love with him. I can't wait to hear him as [redacted] in the later books.

This book was well written with an intriguing plot and great worldbuilding that had me flirting through chapters. However, there was too much on page sexual violence that we were only sometimes supposed to abhor as readers. The main character definitely has Stockholm syndrome and I don’t think that’s going to be addressed. I’m just so afraid we’ll see more toxic relationships develop as the series goes on but perhaps something will surprise me!

For starters: please look up trigger warnings before reading!!

This book is definitely not for me. I knew it was a dark fantasy but there was just too much for me to enjoy the book & I felt a very similar story could’ve been told with out
rape scenes
and graphic commentary to the level of what was included. Not to mention that Auren became a
saddle to Midas
at 15 & he was 22? And he
keeps her in a cage???
Again, just definitely not the book for me, the
sexual assault, minor/adult relationship, confinement & rape
scenes were too much for me to want to continue on even though I am curious to what ends up happening.

I don't know why I keep trying to read these TikTok books. They are so gods awful and poorly written. This is definitely my last one.

I understand that she is meant to realise the abusive situation she’s in. Her thoughts are typical of Someone in an abusive relationship. I’m just not into the whole first part Being a lead up to her rape. So I’m just gonna leave it there I think.
