A fairly short read but I really enjoyed it. The book stays on point and manages to really develop the characters, relationships, and plot in a believable way. I thought the relationship as it developed between Grey and Beatrice to be very sweet even with the pretext of trying to figure out if either she or her brother were responsible for her uncle's death. I was left with an interest in reading her brother's story.

this book started out rlly well. i was surprised at how much i liked the setting & the characters. i immediately found that sheridan is my favourite & i loved the banter between the family, it was so fun to read. although the second half of the book was a bit annoying for me, in that that beatrice became more seeking of grey's approval. as much as she is an extremely witty & different heroine, i felt like she wasn't as independent as she could have been in the second half & for some reason, when they got together i wasn't as excited as i thought i would be. but i am still excited to carry on with the series. the murder side plot is also extremely intriguing. a solid read tho. damaged heroes always own my heart

i am so glad i started reading regency books this year. i don’t know why i haven’t before and just assumed they’re trashy romances. the ones i’ve read have been so good!!! the characters, the romance, the plot lines? amazing
