HISTORICAL ROMANCE WITH A MURDER MYSTERY TWIST

This wasn't great. The tension and chemistry between the two mc's wasn't really there for me. I also just got really annoyed at Grey changing his mind about whether or not he thought Bea was involved in a murder. It's like every time she wasn't directly in his line of sight, he was like, "oh, maybe she's actually a murderer!"

The story seemed to go very quick. It was nice for the most part. While I enjoyed the story, I think this one really showed me where my fatigue and growing dislike for sexual scenes and the way it describes the attraction or rather lust the male characters have even before they truly know the characters.

And I know these are main parts of a romance novel which is not what Im attacking. Im just seeing while I enjoy reading the different periods of time in the romance novels, I prefer more story/character development and actions from the characters rather than flowery or you're the only one who's made me feel this way kind of storytelling.

Im reading the next books still, I want to read further on the mystery murder. We'll see if they pace it better in the next ones.

It has been awhile since I’ve read any historical romances and even longer since I’ve read anything by Sabrina Jeffries so I was very excited when I was given the opportunity to read the ARC of Project Duchess.

I really loved Grey and Beatrice’s story. Fletcher “Grey” Pryde, 5th Duke of Greycourt had a very difficult childhood. He was sent away to live with his aunt and uncle where he was treated horribly. This resulted him to become cold and distant with everyone around him. But when he meets Beatrice Wolfe, who has become a sort of project to Grey’s mother, something about her draws him to her. Unfortunately, due to Beatrice’s own difficult upbringing she is very leery of Grey’s interest in her. There are many obstacles that makes their road to their happily ever after very bumpy; secrets they are keeping from each other, interfering secondary characters and a murder mystery. But the close proximity and chemistry they feel towards each other is very strong which makes them inevitable.

Overall I really did enjoy this book. There were parts that I felt were a bit slow and the back and forth from Grey did get a bit tiresome, especially with his suspicions, but all in all the chemistry, the banter and the murder mystery kept me interested. I am definitely looking forward to reading the future books in this series, especially with the secondary characters and unanswered questions lingering.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Listened to as an audiobook on Libby.

A sinopse me intrigou bastante e o livro não me decepcionou.

It was okay. It really reminded me of a book I have already read, but I don’t know which one. It reminded me so much of it that I was really questioning whether I had read this book before. I hadn’t, but I did have to check goodreads at least once to make sure. The family tree is a little confusing. There is a mystery that starts in this book, but isn’t cleared up. I thought that was a little weird.

This book has it all...murder, mystery, romance and sex! It was hard for me to put this book down. I loved Beatrice. She was smart, opinionated and kind. I look forward to reading more about this family of duke's.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

An entertaining start to a new series. This book is a historical romance with a murder mystery hidden inside. It's hard to get into the twists and turns that I liked best about this story without giving things away, but it definitely sets the stage for some very interesting events in the next books. Bea and Grey's courtship and engagement against these intrigues and dangers becomes something that you want to have happen but at times aren't sure that their budding romance can survive surrounded by so much uncertainty. I'm definitely following this series, if only to discover what follows from the revelations at the end of this book!
