Very fun!  Their relationship was doing everything I needed it to and even though I kind of zoned out on all his baggage, i still really liked it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars

Cute and typical historical romance. Characters were likeable and I enjoyed the intrigue of the murder mystery.

This is a generous three. The insta love between Grey and Bea was insane. It was mind boggling to me that he knew her for half a second where she does almost nothing, and he decides she’s “not like other girls” - yikes and ew.

This is a great start to a new series. Grey is called home for the death of his stepfather. His mother has been widowed for the third time. Beatrice is the niece of Grey's uncle on his stepfather's side. She steps up to help set up the funeral arrangements. When Grey meets her he speaks rudely to her and she gives it right back to him. He is a duke and no one ever talks back to him. She intrigues him.She does not share that feeling. He is rude and entitled. The more time they spend together they learn each others secrets. Can two wounded souls help each other heal when neither one of them is looking for love? Great read!

Grey's stepfather is murdered. While investigating his death Grey becomes close to Beatrice whose brother is a suspect.

the book was okay for me. I liked Beatrice as a character. The romance wasn’t super compelling but the story was a chill read overall
