I liked the colors and the ending. However, there were some gaps in the story timeline, and the illustrations weren’t really my style. I hope the rest of the series works out for Wendell and Marjorie!

A very cute story of two characters dealing with death and grief. Marjorie is dealing with a lot as a middle schooler. Her mom has recently died, her dad has locked himself away in his bedroom, and she has to run her family's small town laundromat. Wendell is a young restless spirit who doesn't want to be dead and has a penchant for exaggerating stories. When Wendell winds up at Marjorie's laundromat he causes some minor chaos for her and pushes Marjorie to her breaking point. The poor girl is really struggling and is really going unnoticed by the adults in her life. Thankfully, the ghosts help save her 'spirit.'

The artwork was different and I liked the overall premise of the book. Family has just lost mom and everyone is struggling with the loss in their own way. Problem is that dad has checked out, little brother is acting out and big sis has to take care of the family business and the family home. On top of that, big sis has to deal with teenage woes. Then one day, big sis meets a friendly ghost.
