I loved the way Emery told this story. The way that she presented Jude and Lila’s past and how they slowly fell in love was beautiful. It also didn’t drag on which I appreciated very much.

Now to Jude and Lila, I love how they always find there way back together, I mean who doesn’t love a hea? Their love was messy, young and then filled with so much trauma.

Even though I love that they always found their way back together, I don’t think he deserved her. Right in the beginning I knew when he was with other girls and she felt guilty for even kissing a boy, that they would be unhealthy. She’s better than be bc I would’ve left and never looked back after what he said to her on his bday.

Anyways, it’s a cute friends to lovers, second chance romance, that deals with grief (kind of) and PTSD.

I really enjoyed this book and I am only rating it a 4 because of one thing I just can’t get over.

I feel guilty admitting it but I just like my love stories less messy. I can take dating other while broken up, but having a baby with someone else? Eek! I just can’t. Knowing Brody’s story might be next I-well, talk about “entanglements”

Be still my heart, I was emerged into Jude and Lila's world from the very beginning and unable to pull myself out until the very last page. Broken up into three parts, this angsty, emotional, coming of age story was unputdownable.

Lila meets the entire McCallister family at the age of nine. This includes Jude who is more like a pebble in her shoe, but also who turns into one of her best friends. Isn't that the way it goes when you are young and naive in the ways of the world of boys and girls. The boy you want to push into the dirt becomes the boy you want to push onto the mattress.

Not only is Jude one of her best friends, but he becomes the love of her life. However, their love story isn't one of ease. It's full of mistakes, trials, and hard knocks. Whoever said finding your true love at a young age would be easy?

Lila and Jude grow and change together, their love for one another always growing and changing, but not always together. (Men are dumb...okay, sometimes women are slightly ridiculous too, but mostly it's always men. LOL) You will find yourself frustrated with both Jude and Lila throughout the story, but let's face it, we all get lost in our own thoughts and let emotions and let life pull us into dark paths. Making wrong decisions isn't easy, but most times it does help us grow as a person, but, it can also send us in a direction away from the people who mean the most to us.

While I completely appreciate that this was told in one book instead of three separate ones, I'm also more curious about the rest of the McCallister family. With that being said, this is labeled as book one so I'm hopeful that we will see more in the future on the other brothers.

Emery Rose is wonderful at angst and bringing all the feels and When the Stars Fall is a beautiful story full of every emotion.

I am sorry, but this was not for me. I would never thought hearing me say this, but it was too much angst. And the things the MC did are just unforgivable. And I don’t mean even the things he did bc of ptsd … i mean the the things he did with all the girls but claiming her and that he loves her so so much but not even waiting to have his first kiss with her. Partying around and making out while she is home dealing with losing her mother to cancer. Just no …

I could not put this book down! Lila and Jude’s story from beginning to end will completely captivate your attention. It’s a coming of age romance that deals with love, loss, mental illness, heartbreak and more. Be sure to check trigger warnings if needed!

I loved this author’s writing and the world she has created with these characters. Lila & Jude are the epitome of true love. The battles they both navigate show the strength and grace of their relationship. Truly beautiful story. This is now one of my absolute favorites! I’m not usually one who cries or gets emotional while reading books, but I definitely shed a few tears during this book! I highly recommend!!

“The stars are still in the sky, baby. Just open your eyes and look up. On the darkest nights, they shine the brightest. And one day soon you’ll see that you never really needed me to put them back in the sky for you. You’re strong and brave and fierce. You’re a goddamn warrior, Rebel. The real hero in our story.”
