Ok, this book was steamy. For such a short read, I thought the author did a great job with character description and development. Even though Ezra comes off so intense, sometimes TOO intense, he's weirdly likable and you find yourself rooting for him and Summer!

Be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading this book, it definitely contains themes of kidnapping, rape, among others.

This was not as dark as I expected it to be. The first scene where the couple is intimate should have a trigger warning, it was rather forceful. Ezra is a shifter, he has a whole lot of feeling that Summer does not. Ezra does try to be patient but when Summer has a change of heart, everything gets resolved really quickly. it's like sex was an epiphany for her. She gives up whatever he life could be because she's someones mate now. Then they just seem to be existing in this bubble, which seemed odd.

Interesting cover and blurb caught my eye. A new to me author so I thought why not…

What did I like? This book was so …. Cheesy. It was too jumbled and almost ludicrous at times. Ezra was in poor shape for wanting a mate for so long and watching everyone else get there mates. Summer stumbled from a worse scene with a problematic male only to get snatched and mated to another.

Would I recommend or buy? Nope, book was seriously choppy. I just felt there was more things the author could have done to make things easier on Summer. Two and a half stars…

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!

A short and steamy read about an average human girl and a bear shifter who is waiting for his one day mate. It gives off a beauty and the beast vibe in the sense that she finds herself in this manor house and unable to leave and her beast of a bear doesn't have the best bedside manner. Throughout the story you can understand the emotions that Ezra has and why he lives alone even though he misses his packmates. Summer turns out to be a great character even though I wasn't a fan of hers in the beginning - but I guess in reality I too would be scared to be locked in a house with some burly man. It was a very enjoyable read, although I wish there were a bit more details of the sexy scenes - but that would also make the book longer and I assume this was destined to be a shorter novella type read. Without trying to give away too much of a spoiler, I absolutely LOVED how this story ended. It made me so very happy to see where the characters ended up. I don't think this has a continued story - but if there is ever a continuation, I'd so enjoy reading it.

This story was good. Could’ve been longer but still it’s was satisfying and it was worth my time. This was also my first book by Darcy Rose.

This had a interesting way of mating, I think I haven’t come across this way before but I also don’t read a lot of shifters stories so there’s that. Either way I loved that aspect of it.

Ezra is a Bear shifter who felt lost in life because he didn’t have his mate, contrary to his whole pack. He was the only one alone and I felt sad for him. But then Summer comes along in a rather concerning way.

Obviously Summer is oblivious to Ezra’s world and she doesn’t understand why he acts the way he does towards her so she naturally tries to escape.

During Summer’s 18 years she was averse to touch especially from men until Ezra and now we start to see how this mating bond works.

She is scared for her life but at the same time curious about him and she decides to make a deal with him and with that deal everything changes.

After they cement their mating bond she finally understands why she always felt like she didn’t belong anywhere and they start their life’s together and it was satisfying seeing them love each other.

I loved seeing their relationship evolve and grow as well. I loved the epilogue and i am interested to see if Ethan is gonna have his story.

The only thing that didn’t make this a 5 star read was because it wasn’t a full length book. If it were I have no doubt that it would have more stars for me. This story has great potential for sure but like I said before it was quick and good story.
