Oh gosh, I have no idea what to say about this one. It was enjoyable, but I don't think it was, like, good? The romance was steamy, sure. But was it well-developed? No? Not really. And the aliens... I don't know, hahaha.

Oh, Brady tugged on every string in my heart. I loved his heart, his fears, his anger and his desperation. It was gripping.

Well holy crap.

I loved it. Just loved it.

This was just a wonderful book. Everything was so clear in my mind that I might as well have been watching a movie. You know what my biggest problem is? And it’s a big one. It’s that I finished reading it.

Honestly there is nothing that I can fault about this book.

Brady and Cam are just wonderful characters. I loved how and why their relationship developed, that connection was just fantastic and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I adored Brady, he is so strong and the world has played him such shitty hands and even though he is angry he is also brave and old beyond his years. I never once felt the age difference between him and Cam, mainly because Brady had to grow up so very fast at such a young age.

I’m crushing hard on Cam. I think it’s the hair. But aside from his amazing hair it’s got to do with the fact that he is also very strong and he is also very brave but he does not carry the anger that Brady carries even though he has had some horrible things happen to him as well. There is a beautiful kindness in him and the fact that he kept his humanity after four years with the Faceless is amazing. Yeah. I’m crushing hard on Cam.

Just wonderful. Read it. You will not regret it.

The romance levels in this novel are high! I really got into the story and couldn’t put this book down, finishing it in less than a day. The romance is really well written (it’s the good old “gay for you” trope) and I liked the characters.

While the romance plot line is very well done, the science fiction plot revolving around the “Faceless” has some holes and is not really well thought out, it honestly didn’t make much sense to me. But as this is a romance novel I’m quite forgiving as long as there is lots of pining, racing hearts and steam- check, check and check.

What I loved about this story is that Cameron and Brady can communicate through their thoughts - an idea I discovered in a completely different novel series (the parabatai concept in the “Shadowhunters” novels if you care to know), and I am so glad other authors are picking this idea up as well. Love it!

There should be a trigger warning for rape though because this happened to two characters in this story and in one instance it is not portrayed as something entirely negative.

Overall it’s one of the most intense romance novels I’ve read. Highly recommended.

I found this story engrossing and emotional just as usual from the amazing pen of Lisa Henry!

The space setting was perfectly portrayed and the whole concept of this future intrigued me from start to finish!

The Faceless!! I want a whole series on them and Kai-Ren!!

Can't wait to jump into the sequel of course!
I hope eventually this becomes a trilogy because the satisfaction of having Dark-Darker-Darkest Space is just too much!!

4.5 book. It was so wonderful and just what I had hoped it would be.

Interesting premise but the romance progressed too fast

“Time was meaningless, except each moment was a countdown to the end.”

3.5 stars -> This book was so fucked up man. I thought I was getting into some fun scifi gay romance, when in fact this was full of trauma, complicated human / alien dealings and bleak space shit. I must admit this is pretty great writing, since I unsettled me so much lol. Not sure if I want to suffer again through this to read the next 2 books in the series…
