Okay so I'm kind of disappointed. This started out so good, i liked the concept and the beginning of the story but then...it never went anywhere? The characters were stuck in a room for the whole book, just existing. And don't get me wrong, i enjoy reading about characters being alone together, but the whole book dude? That's too much even for me...

I really expected more from this, it could've went in so many directions but instead we got the boring, nothing happens plot and I'm extremely annoyed and mad because of that.

This would be a stronger sci-fi work if there was better world building and an actual sense of tactics (seems like the military just mills around doing nothing) but the weaponized alien telepathy is extremely compelling as well as the main character.

Some parts I loved and some parts were annoying as fuck haha

This had a lot of repetitive internal dialogue but the concept was very interesting. I can’t decide if I love or hate Brady haha but I know I love Cam haha. I wished we got Cams pov..

Probably will see how book two goes, hoping for less repetitive dialogue!

This book has an interesting premise. However, I really thought...more would be happening in it than just watching two guys be stuck together in a room for 70% of the book. Nothing really picks up or happens plotwise until the last 20% and then it kind of happens at a neck-breaking pace, so it's a little hard to digest properly. I did like the writing and the characters, I liked the relationships and the flashbacks. Sadly, I probably won't pick up the second installment, merely because it sounds even more lackluster than what I thought this one would be.

Jan 2020 - 2nd read

Just as compelling as the first time I read it. I didn't remember a lot of what happened, so it was almost like a new read but with the added comfort of knowing that I already loved it. Good fun!

______________

A creepily stellar (interstellar?) novel that manages to be both suspenseful and sexy, Lisa Henry has created a world that is both claustrophobic and terrifyingly endless. There's an underlying sense of unease that steadily grows throughout the story that keeps you wondering how it will end even though you know that the ending is both inescapable and inevitable. A great read for a late night huddled under the covers. 4 stars.
