A collection of essays primarily centred around UK government agendas for universities over the last couple of decades. By themselves I would rate many of these essays highly, incisive analysis, enjoyable prose, and a wealth of thought-provoking insight. As an edited collection however, I was somewhat disappointed. A lot (the bulk I would say) of the texts are from the couple of years following the coalition government's major shake up of the sector, with prescient speculation about the various implications of this; yet this work is published 5+ years later with the benefit of hindsight and thus I feel could have given more discussion to how things stand at the time of writing.
