Read with a 2 year old.
I adored this retelling of Cinderella through a queer lense! A male baker meets the prince with the help of his fabulous fairy godfather, Ludwig. But of course, his chefs hat falls off as he rushes to make it home by midnight! I loved every page, the gorgeous illustration and the exposure to diverse love stories.
My two year old always asks for ‘Cinderelliot’ at story time

An imaginative and inclusive retelling of a beloved fairytale.
Cinderelliot spends his days baking for his ungrateful step siblings. When the prince of the kingdom hosts a baking contest, a "spectacular man" (a fairy godfather who resembles actor and Broadway star Nathan Lane) swoops in to help Elliot make it to the baking ball! There, the baker finds his place as palace pastry chef and husband to a dark-skinned prince.
This gender-bender Cinderella story centers on skill and creation, baking, instead of beauty as an added bonus to shifting the classic narrative. Wonderfully gay, joins Prince & Knight by Danial Haack in the queer fairytale ranks of children's literature.

This is a great twist on Cinderella. Both my kids (8 and 11) got a really big kick out of it. I loved that they could enjoy a familiar story from a different point of view.
