so (at the time of writing this) ive watched the better nate than ever movie on disney+ twice. it came out 5 days ago. i will most likely rewatch it again in the next few days. thought the time has come for me to read the books.
i fucking love better nate than ever. there is so much of nate i relate to. thank you, tim federle, for making me feel seen. i just know this story means and will mean so much to so many people.
the book was actually way sadder than i expected. the movie adaptation is so joyous and full of love and life, whereas there are a lot of mentions of homophobia, alcoholism and nates difficult home life–just to name a few–in the novel. nate truly deserves a big hug.
i absolutely loved nates journey with his sexuality. tim federle depicts finding who you are so realistically. i loved how we really get to see nate grow into himself throughout the novel. im hoping he gets more comfortable with himself in book two and three :))
Moderate: Homophobia
Minor: Alcoholism and Fatphobia
