Was laughing out loud while reading this. The audiobook with Stephen Fry narrating is absolutely wonderful. Some aspects are dated ie `everyone wears digital watches` could easily be read as everyone wears fitbits or apple watches in today`s time. Otherwise its aged quite well.

Funny, random and simple. I think this is the first comedy genre-focused book I've read. I liked the random interconnected stories in between.
The sperm whale, ballpoint pens, the dolphins and the small dog. ❀️
My english isn't at the book's level, so there were some sentences I couldn't understand, but I just guess and I think I somewhat get the context. Other than that, the dictionary helps. Sci-fi and action aren't really my go to genres, but I still enjoyed it. A good read, anywhere anytime.

I really liked this movie when I was younger, and always wanted to read the book because I heard it was a lot better. And though I can see how people who read it first would think that, and to be fair I haven't seen the movie in a while, I'm really not sure I would have liked it much if I didn't have the context of the movie. It was funny and entertaining, for sure, but it was also was extremely Written By A Man (i.e. somewhat sexist and with no real female characters?) and like, idk, I just would have found it pretty chaotic and hard to follow if I hadn't seen the movie first. I'm probably not going to read the rest of the series but I don't at all regret reading this one.
