The second manga on my trek through the medium has been so great! In this series, Light Yagami stumbles upon the Death Note belonging to the Shinigami, Ryuk. With the Death Note in his possession, Light is on a mission to rid the world of evil by killing off criminals until there are no left.

What I Liked:

- Characters: Light starts to be a mild-mannered, brilliant student who pretty instantaneously switches to a very narcissistic and malevolent person who thinks his acts of mass murder are justified both in the moment and for the future of the world. Seeing how his intellect plays out to dish his "justice" as well as both concealing his identity from the NPA and L, Light's antagonist. L seems to be the same as Light in terms of wit and intellect and is planning to stop Light by any means. It's interesting seeing these two characters go at it with one another from a distance; I'm interested to see how this feud will develop in the future. Ryuk is a great character who is bored and wants to watch how Light goes about using the Death Note. He tells Light about the Death Note and is constantly surprised by how Light conveys himself.
- Writing/Pacing: So far, the writing is great. I like how each character is written and I like the small twists and turns it takes the reader through that don't feel forced or out of place. Explanations of how things are plotted out are something that I enjoy; seeing the intricacies of the character's thought processes makes it much more engaging. The pacing is pretty quick but it works best that way.
- Story/Premise: The premise of the story is very unique and is something that will make people think about whether what Light is doing is right or wrong, even maybe a deeper meaning as to why it's right or wrong.
- Artwork/Coloring/Paneling: The artwork is pretty solid, but it shines the brightest when it comes to the design of the Shinigamis and their world dimension. Nicely detailed and gives a distinct atmosphere that separates it from the human world. The human world is drawn pretty simple, but there is an aesthetic to it that I like.

What I thought was Okay:

- Characters: I do feel like we should've gotten a bit more of Light before he received the Death Note to see how drastic his change is.

What I Didn't Like:

N/A

Overall, I like this series so far. I remember watching them so many years back but coming back to this story in the manga seems fitting. There's a lot here that I like so I'm excited to see it evolve; I would recommend it.

Review for the whole series:
This was one of the best manga series I've read. Genius. I just wish women were not portrayed the way they were.
