Nova and Maddie can’t stand each other. And yet when Maddie accidentally texts the wrong number (Nova’s, not her best friend’s) they both find each other building a connection. They find themselves emotionally falling for someone hidden by anonymity while building an enemies with benefits situation.

I loved this! I loved how both characters had insecurities they shared with each other both as Maddie and Nova and Charmer and Grim. Because of their unique relationships they both offered something special and different in a way that allowed them and us to fall for their characters. Nova is down bad for Maddie! Once he realizes how much he likes her, he can’t get enough.

It had hockey, secret relationships, teammates sister, enemies to lovers, and spice!  What’s not to love?!

I really liked this a lot - some surprise moments. Something that really threw me was the use of some many exclamation points - made the dialogue seem unrealistic...odd comment but I was invested.

Wow the story is hot hot hot. The chemistry between these is something else. It does end with a happy ending.

I'm a puddle!

I really need to stop taking recommendations off of booktok

✨ college hockey romance
✨ enemies to lovers
✨ anonymous text messages
✨ reformed playboy

When Madeline texts who she thinks is her friends number she mistakenly texts Nova Darkmore captain of the FU hockey team and her greatest enemy. Not knowing who each other they text anonymously through weals showing sides of themselves they haven’t before. While day to day they can’t stand each other. Madeline in prim and proper the daughter of towns beloved mayor and Nova wants nothing to do when her and her perfect family. Until one day Madeline shows up and Novas door with a proposition for Madeline to get back at her father for demanding she marry someone. And Nova wants Madeline just about as much as he hates her. But what about the girl in his phone he’s grown closer to everyday.

I absolutely devoured this book. I loved the enemies to benefits to lovers and how slowly Nova opened up to Madeline. He had a lot of baggage towards her family but he is attracted to Madeline. Their spice is dirty and filthy and filled with so much tension between them.

I love their friend group and dynamic. I love Madeline’s relationship with her brother and how they stick for each other and stuck together through their fathers demands. The friendship between Madeline and her best friend/ roommate is pure and I love their interactions and all the interactions between the rest of the hockey team and them.

Madeline is a fierce female main character who really finds what she wants out of life and eventually does what she can to have it. And once Nova falls for Madeline it’s over for him, the over the top jealousy, the spice and the mystery behind the text messages had me obsessed through the entire book.

5/5 ⭐️
