I believe this was recommended by @peacelovebooks. I enjoyed this. It's not a lighthearted romcom. The back-and-forth between Nova and Maddie is hurtful, mean, and sometimes cruel. However, I love that s*it! It's also very, very spicy. Enemies to lovers + spice is my version of a great time.
fast-paced

Madeline Peters, the daughter of Fairfield Mayor Hugo Peters, is fed up with being part of her incredibly fake family. Not only is her father self-serving, but he also arranges her relationships for his benefit. He has recently chosen Bradley Thorne as her boyfriend, who is already cheating on her. Despite this, her father insists that she marry him. Any objections she raises will result in her losing her only bit of freedom at Fairfield University, where she shares a condo with her best friend and roommate, Hallie.

One night, she decides to vent to Hallie about the terrible events in her life. To her surprise, she mistakenly sends her messages to a stranger. When the stranger replies, "I think you have the wrong number?" she realizes her mistake. Despite this, she and the stranger form a connection. Their conversations begin with a shared understanding of the unfair world around them and slowly blossom into something charming, special, and exciting.

Little does she know that the lonely charmer is none other than - Nova Darkmore - the dark hair, broody-eyed Caption of the Fairfield Flyers which is the very team her brother Josh plays on and her long-term nemesis. Nova hates both the Peters' for the pain their father the Mayor, has caused him and his mother. However, one party at his campus house changes the dynamic between him and Madeline; progressing into heat, hunger, want, obsession & madness.

Little does he know that the Madeline he is going nuts about is none other than his Grim! What will happen when he learns that there is no choosing between the two as they are both the same? And, will Madeline be able to snatch her fate put into Bradley's hands by her father? Or will she be able to be with Nova, who has become her heart's choosing?

In this sweaty sports romance, Wright brings the angst to A-levels. Madeline & Nova are fire together with such raw want between them, thoroughly abetted by their tenuous circumstances. They mirror one another so well that as soon as one crosses into the light or the dark, the other follows to offer the same intensity with comfort and passion.
