The Puck Secret

G.N. Wright

3.92 AVERAGE

It’s safe to say that G.N. Wright’s first departure into hockey romances was a raging SUCCESS if you ask me. For whatever reason, I still question the integrity and value of hockey romance as a genre but I continue to eat it up (and I’m not mad about it).

This book had it all: the spice, the sweet relationship building moments, the conflict with her terrible boyfriend, the curiosity behind Josh and Hallie’s chemistry, and my heart ached when Nova and Maddie lost each other in the alleyway. I need a book for every single one of these boys ASAP!!

Got here from a Booktok about the Truth of Dare scene (iykyk

Nova is the captain of his college hockey team. Maddie is his teammate/rival's little sister. He spends his time taunting her.

One day, Nova receives an anonymous text and starts exchanging with Grim and they develop a relationship throughout their texts while not knowing who the other is

Enemies to lovers is the ultimate trope and this one DID. IT. FOR. ME. This was one of my absolute favorite enemies to lovers.

There will never be a time where I’m not thinking about Nova Darkmore. He was perfection. And Maddie, I absolutely loved her fiesty side. Pairing the two of them together brought out the best sides of both of them. Maddie was fiesty, untamed, and her true self… while Nova was attentive and simping hard for a girl he had no business being in love with.

So what’s better than an enemies to lovers book? An enemies to lovers that includes a secret, anonymous texting relationship. I swear I eat those stories up. I could not get enough of the flirty banter and spicy sexting in this book. AND THE BASEMENT SCENE, oh my lord

first read of 2024 and i hated every second of it

IT WAS BORING, SLOPPY, AND LAZY.!!!! there's absolutely no depth.  the plot as well as the proper sentence punctuation were nowhere to be found

THAT and he calls her a slut way too often,, like dude calm down 😭 u dont need to do all that. he slut-shames her i think twice outside of a bedroom setting and it gave me the biggest ick ever

and thenn theres this sharing scene that takes place in the basement which WAS NOT IT!! it was so unecessary and out of nowhere. i hated it so much. it shouldnt have happened at all!!

the fmc was okay but what made me dislike her was how she went along with the forced marriage bc it meant that she would in her words: "have to get a job" if her father cut her off financially😭😭 apparently that was too much for her, so she would much rather marry a violent and cheating bastard of guy (who she would be utterly miserable with btw!!) instead of choosing a life for herself

i cant even explain how much i hated this. if u wanna read something with good story-building and interesting characters, this is NOT the book for that.

this wasnt worth it guys. i thought it was gonna eat bc of the synopsis and the texting part of it but it didnt im sorry. i dont usually hate on books this much but this one deserved it

I absolutely love this book and these characters. It is an enemies to lovers perfection of a story. Maddie and Nova are both two characters who are well known, but only truly known by those close to them. Maddie has to struggle against what is expected of her versus what it is that she truly wants. Nova has a tough shell that only a few people are allowed to see behind it. They may think they are enemies but they create an amazingly scorching chemistry that combusts on the page. I am completely captivated by this world and cannot wait to see what happens next in it!

4.5⭐️ maddie and nova were perfect to me from the beginning! i love nothing more than a strong enemies to lovers trope. from the mysterious texting and the accidental door knock to the holding hands for each other during their hardest life’s moments. they are a couple i was rooting for from the beginning and LOVE how it played out (even through the 3rd act breakup)

this is definitely going to be a re-read in the future FOR SURE.

Desee el principio es dinámico, me reí bastante ! Me gusto
