if i had a nickle for every dostoevsky book i've read that featured a man brutally murdering a women i'd have two nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

*MY NOTION NOTE TO SELF*
1st read (~fri 06.06.2025 → tue 05.08.2025; amazonclassics ed’n. on amazon prime; 1887 Frederick Whishaw / first English translation) ~ twisty & thematic but almost overly convoluted. i suppose i’ve fallen out of love with the domestic/village/family drama genre.
Un vocabulario y unas descripciones de los personajes fabulosas, el nombre de los personajes y la situación de la época en que trascurre la historia hace que sea más difícil de leer, pero con este léxico Dostoyevski hace que te sea menos negativo.

I've been immersed in this book for so long that writing a review feels almost impossible.
Despite the challenging read, I was impressed by how well-developed all the characters were, and I always appreciate the use of the omniscient narrator. Even though the characters were difficult to like, their psychological profiles were so well crafted that it was hard to blame them for their actions; they were just very real.
The author's opinions on life, society, and politics, expressed through the characters' voices, remain timely and relevant.
Looking forward to the next book by Dostoevsky!
(The relationships and connections from the first half of the book reminded me a lot of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen; I wonder if there is any connection)
