In this story, Hirano manages to depict a various range of serious topics about what really determines our "self". Removing the past from a man, the protagonist starts an investigation about "who this man really was", being this man described by his family members as calm, loving and a good person, this description trembles when discovering he was not who he said he was when after concluding the investigation they realize that, no matter what happened in his past or who he was, that didn't change anything. This book really resonated with me somehow, it's the first time I cry while reading. I think this book leaves a different impression to each reader, I highly recommend to read it and I will read it again at some other point in my life to rediscover new feelings and thoughts.
