Too slow in the beginning with a lot of omniscient narratives that i didn't enjoy, but boy when it really starts there is nothing like it.

This was a man’s book through and through, which I am not usually one to diss, but it was pretty boring. I didn’t like any of the plot, the themes were mild at best, but I’ll hand it to this book for characterization. Despite saying I was bored, I haven’t been this engaged and pulled into a story in a while. And this book could put romance writers to shame-why is Gus the most attractive male character I’ve read (long white hair description aside)?

I must add, I just saw a clip from the movie, and I know it says over and over that they’re older, but by God, I will continue to imagine them as a Paul Rudd-esque 50 if it kills me

Not usually my genre, but well worth the read! I found myself so engaged in the story that I worried about the characters when I wasn’t able to read more.

A true American classic, one for the ages. Magnificent. Don't be intimidated by the length, you won't want for it to end even when you finish that last page
