This book was not quite what I was expecting. I thought it would be a little more self-help, but really it is a story about a therapist who ends up in therapy herself after a break up. It also tells the story of a few of her patients. But it's all done as a sort of humorous, heartwarming memoir. I really enjoyed it.

An enjoyable read, but on reflection, I had the following issue:

The stories are (by necessity) anonymised, but I feel this removes some of the wonder from the journeys they take you on — the author leans a bit too heavily into the fantasy of therapy, as a miracle cure-all.

Enjoyable listen. Made me feel like I need to go to therapy

I’m not one for “self help books”, but this was recommended to me and I honestly really enjoyed it. A good reminder that no one is perfect, it’s okay to not be okay, and sometimes you need therapy (even as the therapist)

I started this book when I found out my brother has a tumor in his kidney and when I decided to finally quit my toxic job. I'd been trying to find a therapist for months but gave up. Needless to say this book was everything to me in this moment of my life. I sobbed, I laughed, I ached, I learned. This book really did feel like therapy and it felt amazing!
